today i want to introduce the marshall family. such a sweet family that has been through a lot the last couple of months. i am so happy for the gift of life and their new son, micah. it's amazing to be welcomed into someone's home to capture this new life and to feel the love is overwhelming.
little h creative : three parts
this space, my business, is little h creative. i am kathryn hager, owner and creative entrpeneuer that has a vision for this space. i get ask all the time exactly what i do and often i have clients that only know about one part of this three part business.
- first, i screen print. i have been printing shirts for about 7 years now. i have learned so much and continue to get excited about designing and printing shirts. i print all of my own retail clothing for my booth space at The Alley Cat Vintage Mercantile and for my online store. i have also started printing custom orders again. which means if you have a fundraiser or event you would like shirts for i can design and print the shirts for you. contact me for more information and to get a quote. (minimum order of 25 shirts)
- second, i am a graphic designer. i have been doing this for about 2 years. i have a bachelors in business marketing and i think that is what sparked my interest in design and graphics. once i started printing more for myself i needed a better way to market myself and design my own shirts. learning adobe illustrator has changed my life and now i feel the options are endless. i love designing my own merchandise, logos and branding, and being able to help others has been such a blessing. design services include designing wedding invitations/stationary, logo & branding for creative individuals, businesses and events, and t-shirt designs.
- third, i am a photographer. i shot for hobby for about 3 years and have been professional for over a year. i attended a Joy Prouty // Wildflower Photography workshop in March 15' and that really developed my mind for capturing moments. i love shooting natural moments through lifestyle and simple sessions. i enjoy people so getting to know you and capturing those moments is such a joy.

portrait session : tylar turns 2
the age of two is a hard age to shoot. the most common word used is "no" by said two year old. i love getting creative with the little ones. her mom and i decided the dairy queen in archer city, texas would be a fun place to end our session. what toddler is going to say no to a banana split?
it worked out perfect! her adorable outfit matched perfect with the bench seats inside the dq and there wasn't a person there. we had the entire place to ourselves.
i'm sure you've noticed the sunflowers are absolutely beautiful this year. so happy we were able to get some of this little lady in the field before she decided against it.
tylar has so many expressions and i love each and every one of them. she is such a ham and i just love watching her grow.

newborn lifestyle session : emsley
this session was so sweet. ms. emsley was wide awake almost the entire time. she was so calm and sweet. i love newborn sessions in home, they are comfortable and cozy. it was so sweet to see how in love mom and dad were with their new addition. it brings great joy to my day to see and witness this love.
i am now booking newborn lifestyle sessions. i have limited spaces in the fall so contact me if interested!
legacy session : schalk
i had the pleasure of spending a weekend with this beautiful family. i worked for john schalk, president of schalk oil company in wichita falls. i also worked for his dad thomas schalk before he passed away in 2012. family and the importance of family is at the center of my life and every legacy. everyone has a legacy to be left. the important part is capturing this time for the generations to come.
spending the time at their lake cabin was a huge blessing. john's parents, tom and betty, bought this lake house many many years ago for $15,000 and that included the house, dock, and a boat. can you believe that. he has great memories of this place and now he is getting to share them with his wife, daughter and friends.
tom spent every day at schalk oil company. he worked 8-5 just like everyone else. he was the sweetest man and i miss him dearly. he loved his granddaughter with his whole heart. he would be so proud of the lady she is becoming. she is beautiful she like her mom and this session is for the entire family but also just for her and the legacy she is going to be left.
tom was also a fan of cowboy hats and when we were at the cabin john mentioned this. perfect opportunity to get everyone to try one on. these are some of my favorite pictures from the session.
i encourage you to consider a legacy session at some point. don't let all the wonderful memories you have of your grandparents, parents, and children go uncaptured. let the memories come to life so the generations to come can look and remember.
august moments : celebrating birthdays
we gathered at my parents house this past sunday and it was such a good time. the summer is a crazy time for my parents. with farming in full swing we don't get together as often as we would like. summer is also the time for birthdays. i turned 3 - 0 . wow. i turned 30 on a monday which kind of stunk but soon got over and now i'm excited for this new chapter into older years. hah!
i love everything about being at my parents: all the kids, great food and family. it's all i need. one of the top things the kids want to do when they go to my parents is swing. this tire swing has seen its years. not only on the tractor but also in this tree, swinging - with as many kids will fit. i have pictures just like this as a child. it makes heart warm watching and being a part of this generations memories.
introducing : legacy session
i posted a little sneak peak about this on my instagram and Facebook about a month ago and now i want to share something that i am very passionate about.

july 4th celebration : charlie, texas
home of the free - because of the brave. for as long as i can remember i have spent my independence day in charlie, texas. the very place i grew up. my nana and gramps help run the charlie community center and have made a point to keep our small town celebration alive. i grew up excited and anxious to decorate by bicycle for the parade with red white and blue streamers, balloons and flags duct taped to my bike.
the passed few years i have carried on the tradition of helping. i help serve hamburgers and hot dogs to all the visitors who come out to celebrate. because everyone in my family helps put it on in some way we never had any pictures to take away from something so much time and effort went into. my gramps ask me to capture the event this year and an honor it was.
i was reminded how much fun it is. the kids dancing and running wild. hay rides and blue barrel train cars being pulled behind a lawn mower keep things alive and at dark we have a nice firework show.
we had a high chance for a storm this year which left the crowd a little thin and the weather just perfect. i look up to my gramps and nana for so many reasons. their love for this small community is so grand and i hope it is never forgotten.
setting goals
little h creative online store is up and ready. my original goal was sometime in 2015 and then once i started getting things together i changed the goal date to the end of june. being self employed is teaching me a lot about goals, scheduling, and time. i rarely procrastinate and i'm impulsive. which means, i tend to want to work all. the. time. juggling between retail space, graphic design, and photography isn't always easy but it's the only way i function. i like the multi-trade business. i equally enjoy all of it.
i'm going to try and take july and august to focus on some other parts of little h creative that i haven't been able to put my time on. i've got a fun session coming up in july. i'm excited about it and can't wait to share more. stayed tuned my friends!
i'll leave you with some images from our little styled shoot and invite you to take a look around our shop. shop away! we are stocked and ready.
vacation : jamaica beach, tx
ryan and i have been wanting to take the kids to the beach for awhile. we waited until jane got a little bigger and we are hooked. neither of us had been to the beach in a long time. we chose Galveston/Jamaica Beach mostly for the distance and time it takes to get there. from our house it was about 8 hours (a little over with kids) i feel like we heard a lot more bad than good about galveston but we went for it. we booked a vrbo (vacation rental by owner) house. we chose the cheapest we could find and it was amazing. maybe not the nicest place in the area but it fit our needs perfectly.
it had plenty of space for 7 kids and 4 adults. i could sit on the deck, watch the guys fish in the ocean and drink my coffee in peace in the morning. it was amazing.
the beach was walking distance which made it great with the kids. we never had to load up in the car to go anywhere. we went out in the morning from about 9-12ish. the water was great, a local told us the water wasn't as clear as usual but we didn't notice. the guys got to walk out a little further than we were swimming to fish and pretty good luck! ryan hasn't ever really fished so being his first time and actually catching stuff was a bonus.
we ate out one night which was crazy. a packed restaurant with a party our size, sunburned tired kids (and adults) made us realize cooking at the house was much more peaceful. i ate fresh fish every day and it was glorious. we will definitely be going back.
family session : morath family
the fam and i went on vacation last week with my brothers family. it was such a blast. we stayed at a vrbo house in jamaica beach, tx. this was the way to go. 7 kids and 4 adults. we had two decks and a ton of room. we were also walking distance from the beach which was a huge bonus. we only ate out one meal (which we regretted) and the rest at the house. it was so relaxing which i can't say about all vacations. the kids loved the beach and we will for sure be back!
i will be doing a post about our trip with pictures but for now, here are a few photos of the morath clan. we didn't have much time and ms. hallie wasn't cooperating but i love how they turned out. i love this family so much. the bottom pictures of hallie are from the morning we left. i took her out alone to try and get her to smile...wasn't really successful but it was fun!
may moments : under the tree
may proved to be memory making. the rain came and livened up all our trees, especially this one in our side yard. crazy to think it was near death last year and we almost had it cut down. thank goodness we waited to see if it would come back to life. let me tell you. it has. it is huge! the perfect tree to lay under and dream about the future. these kids are eager to be my side kicks. they both have such great personalities. jane has gotten really into dancing. we turned the music on while we lay under the tree and i got quite the show.
these girls may not agree on sharing everything but they are becoming the best of friends. it makes this mama's heart want to burst and multiply! may, you were good to us. i pray for all those who lost something in the flood. crazy to think we were in a drought last summer and now i hope to have plans of road trips, lake visits and lots of sunscreen.
*jane's shirt was created and printed by me and is available at the alley cat attic. 9th and Indiana, downtown wichita falls, tx. third floor.
april moments : part 2
i love the spring. the days are long and being able to spend so much time outside is great. april has brought a great amount of rain! something we aren't used to so i couldn't tell the girls no when they went straight for the puddles. these girls of mine are such troopers. i did some spring mini sessions and they are always up for letting me take them around to find the best spot. each of the girls are wearing little h creative shirts designed and printed by me.
the beginning of april was a bit challenging but i'm happy to announce that after 6 weeks we are finally in a groove. the girls are playing better at home and i feel semi caught up on my work. i am so happy i made the decision to be self employed. it's work but it brings me so much joy.
newborn lifestyle session : kendall & family
this little lady was 9 days old when we took this session last week. she was so calm and sweet. i know her big sister is in love. she may not have wanted to show it but it's love and it brings back a lot of memories of jane being little. baby kendall you are so lucky to have such a loving family. allison and jake you are beautiful parents! thank you for inviting me into your home.
april moments
i try hard to document my family during the year. that way at the end of the year i can design a book that starts in January and ends in December. i want this book to show the girls their growth and experiences. i've been doing this for 4 years now and annie loves to look at our old books and laugh at how little she used to be. explaining to her that she used to be a baby too is a hard concept for her to grasp.
so here are some of our moments in april. these girls sure know how to makes this mama smile. and really, whats better than a trampoline on a cloudy day with cousins. nothing.
i will encourage you to take pictures and save them! even if they are just on your phone, put them on your computer or get them printed. these littles are going to love the memories captured.
