2 year session : kaia

this little lady is so smart, cute and the definition of a two year old. she did not want anything to do with me or the camera. i truly believe that recording this time in a young childs life is so important. she may not be all smiles but these pictures show me a strong, independent, and smart little lady.

kate talley : support epilepsy

cherise has been my best friend since the fourth grade. her daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was 7 months old. due to the severity of the seizures she had her first surgery in august of last year removing her left frontal lobe of her brain. it worked to keep her seizure free for a little while but did not last. the team and doctors at Cooks have decided to remove the entire left frontal lobe of the brain so that Kate can be seizure free forever. the surgery will be longer and tougher on Kate than the first but this little lady is so strong and we know she can handle it. please pray with me for kate, the doctors, and the peace to be with her parents, shawn and cherise.

one of the major tasks for cherise and her family is to keep kate healthy which means being confined to her house. i went out last week to get some shots of kate playing in her environment. she absolutely loves this photo album. 90% of the time she flipped though the pages. one after another. over and over.

please say a prayer this little one gets relief and is seizure free! we love you cherise, shawn, jace and kate!

taking that step

i am leaving my very secure wonderful job to be self employed and spend more time with my kids. it feels like this has been a long time coming - almost like a dream. when i decided to really launch little h creative with a website in january and putting myself out there i wasn't sure what would come of it. i have been so blessed with clients, inspiration, and support. it doesn't take me much to get inspired and have the desire to start creating things.

i had been on the virge, stressing about finances and pondering whether or not it was the right choice for our family. one day last week i went to visit a long time favorite shop (one I've always had a booth at on a very small scale and as little h prints) the alley cat. i was needing to talk to Julie, owner, about moving and enlarging my booth (because 922 indie where i currently had the bulk of my stuff was closing). i was taken to the third floor and i felt like i could almost cry. i saw a huge space with wood floors, tiffany blue walls, and endless possibilities.

right then i knew i had a passion inside me that needed to be used. i had to take the chance. the next day i told my boss and i took the first step of doing something i love.

two of many passions of mine is creating things and old stuff. i love making things with my hands and seeing the results. i easily get frustrated when i can't figure out how to make something. (usually because it requires some power tool i don't know how to use. thank goodness i have a very handy husband) i thrive and get extra excited when i walk into a thrift or "junk" store as some call them. my heart goes out to downtown properties that are not given the chance to grow and be renewed.

the space is to be called the alley cat attic. a space full of handmade and vintage items with a open concept boutique feel. not all the details are worked out yet but i am excited to move towards screen printing textiles; fabric, pillows, tote bags, tea towels, and more.

this will also be a space were i can meet clients for consultations and appointments. having a little space to call mine is so wonderful.  right now the bulk of my time is spent creating and designing items for the store.  a tentative open date is mid to end march.

these pictures really don't have much to do with this post except that all of this change will result in more time with these people who make this passion inside me so great.

so please stayed tuned. i am going to do my best to keep you updated! follow me on instagram (social icon is at the top of the page will take you to my instagram) i post regularly there.

wedding stationary : ladonna and jeffrey

this wedding suite really was a blast to design. great moody colors, watercolor flowers and I just love that this bride chose to do the envelope liners. such a fun touch to finish off the invitations.

there are so many wonderful things about having someone (little h creative) design your invitations or save the dates. the goal is for you to get exactly what you want. you don't have to choose from the select options that the bridal online stores offer. you are not limited to certain papers, colors and styles. you get to pick your style. if you or someone you know is getting married please send them my way. i would love to meet them and discuss the many options available.

wedding stationary : jessica and travis

these little  beauties were so much fun to design. my little sister is getting married april 18th and i couldn't be more excited! i really love creating invitations for a wedding that really fit the bride and groom.

one of the biggest things to remember about wedding invitations and stationary is that little h creative can create something that represents you and your vision for your big day.

monday moments

our house usually goes from loud to quiet in 2 seconds flat. ryan made me this pallet couch about a year ago. i bought a crib mattress and put some throw pillows on it and it is the girls number one place to hang. jane is able to crawl up and read a book all by herself. annie uses it as a trampoline (which i don't encourage) and i pretty sure jane can't wait until she can do it. (hopefully not sooner than later)

when we bought our house a year and half ago the main thing that drew me in was the natural light. we have two huge windows on both sides of the house. i love how our house lights up during the day. there are days i think we need drapes or curtains but can't bring myself to do it because i'm scared i'll lose some of this beautiful light.

so for now i'll just deal with my bare windows and soak up this light and these two spunky kids.

this texas weather can't decide what it wants to do -  yesterday i was out spray painting doilies and today i'm bundled up and freezing. so happy Monday to ya and i hope this post brought a little light to your day.

newborn lifestyle : sadie

i am so happy for this little family. my cousin allison and her husband, nate, are going to be such great parents. ms. sadie was one week old and was awake almost the entire time. i think she wanted to show off those beautiful eyes and that hair, amazing. so so pretty.

2014 photo album

every year i try to organize our pictures into an annual photo album. i've tried 4 different companies, never really happy with the process or the product. this year since i've gotten started with miller's lab i decided to order through them and what a great choice it was. they have a number of different album options including the signature albums and layflat albums which i offer with a few of my photography packages. they are also available for purchase on top of any photography package.

i chose this hard back album because it allowed be to have up to 140 pages. the pages are good quality matte paper. not the super thick pages which is offered with the other albums. i picked the blue art cloth and chose to have our name of the book foil pressed on top of the book. this was a great option for only $7.

i like it when the sun comes out.

something i struggle with is finding balance between this wonderful space, my part time job, and home. i went part time at my "real" job to focus on my passion for creating things. finding out that people want me to create for them is such a relief.

my days have felt heavy and the winter months don't help. i don't get out to run or walk like i used to, all my plants have dried up for the winter, and our backyard is full of tumble weeds.

i try to enjoy all the season's that God has blessed us with but winter is the most difficult . last week, the sun came out and i instantly felt renewed. my heart started beating a little different and an instant smile was on my face.

i can tell the girls felt it to. i went outside and i was on a mission to get my back yard looking a little better. i started throwing tumble weeds over the fence and annie, without being told, picked up the broom and dust pan and went to town. jane did her part by bossing us around and helping us get our hands dirty.

dirty hands does this family good.

i sure love jane's pot belly.

annie's smile is contagious.

we've got sun in our weekend forecast and i can't wait to get out there and soak it up.
